PAPHOS

Paphos (known locally as Pafos) with its picturesque harbour and medieval fort, historical sites and spectacular countryside is a cosmopolitan holiday resort. The harbour, with its many cafes and restaurants is perfect for al fresco dining and comes alive in the evening with street vendors and entertainers. It is frequented by locals and tourists alike.

Once, the Island's capital, its vast archaeological legacy is such that UNESCO has named the whole town a World Heritage Site. According to legend Aphrodite, the ancient Greek Goddess of Love is believed to have risen from the waves at the rocks known as Petra Tou Romiou (the Rock of Aphrodite), close to Paphos.
